sessions with Kay
What to Expect
As I am a lifestyle shooter, most sessions will involve walking through nature, playing in your house, or capturing those candid moments while you do something fun...like making homemade pizza! Don't expect to sit and pose for an hour, or even the perfect shoulders up portraits. Anyone can take that photo, I'm interested in the stories of your life.
We'll chat locations, outfits, times, all the things over email and find what will best tell your story.
My lifestyle sessions start around 45 minutes but can expand up to two hours if you feel you need more time.
My mini sessions are typically 15-20 minutes and are in one location.
Micro weddings generally fall into the 3 hour range but are customizable as every single one is truly unique!
*travel within CT is included. Anything outside CT will be discussed.
A non-refundable retainer for all sessions is due on booking with contract signing. The second payment is due a week out from your shoot.
Once your photos are taken and edited you'll receive a full gallery with options to purchase prints or download the digitals.
These can be easily shared and accessed at anytime for up to 3 months post shoot.
Online storage options are available for a fee if you want your gallery to stay active.
Will You suggest a location?
if you don't have a location in mind for your shoot, I am always willing to offer some of my favorite spots up for your shoot.
When do you do minis?
It varies! If the weather has been great and the flowers are popping, or it's Christmas Card time, or I find a fun studio to rent, then I'll post about mini sessions. I'll probably send out an email about it as well :)
Will You Travel?
I will! Let's chat about specifics but generally you'll pay a session price as well as covering some travel expenses such as food/hotel/plane/gas etc.
Can You send a sample gallery?
Yup! If you want a sample gallery of a recent shoot, just ask! In fact, any photographer should be willing to do this, or I'd be wary of them.
What's a non refundable retainer?
Well, when you hire me, you're retaining me for the date on the calendar. I block off that time for you and don't accept other bookings, this helps cover that potential loss of income if you decide to cancel last minute.
Do you offer rain dates?
Obviously, we live in New England and the weather is fickle, so of course! We will try to coordinate 24 hours before if we're watching the weather for your shoot. Mini's will always have a posted rain date. Indoor sessions aren't affected unless it's something crazy like it knocks out electricity.
One Last Thing...
I know social media is wonderful for inspiration. Pinterest is great for ideas. Instagram is the highlight reel of all ideal family photos. But let's keep those as just what they are, inspiration. I want you to come to your sessions making them all about you. Whether you're celebrating one year of marriage or 50, your first pregnancy or your fifth, or even your 30th family portrait session there is a way to make it special to you.
These are photos to pass down for generations. These are prints to hang on the walls. These are pictures that capture the way your husband makes you throw your head back in laughter and the way your kids run circles around you because they're energizer bunnies. They don't have to be the picture perfect portrait, expand your thinking about what a photo session has to be. Let's go somewhere meaningful to you and make some new memories. Let's have the kids make a mess with flour while they bake cookies or show me all of their toys in the playroom. Let's grab a drink at the bar where you guys went on your first date or walk along the river where he proposed.
Your story is the inspiration, my photos are the narration.
